About the Role
A leading national provider of specialist equipment to the construction and infrastructure sectors is looking to recruit an experienced and proactive Workshop Manager. This is a key leadership role within a busy depot, responsible for ensuring plant and vehicle maintenance is carried out to the highest standards, in full compliance with health, safety, and quality regulations.

The Role:
As Workshop Manager, you’ll oversee all workshop operations, manage a team of technicians, and ensure that plant and vehicle servicing is carried out on schedule and in line with industry standards. You’ll work closely with the wider depot management team to meet operational targets and will be responsible for creating a safe, productive, and high-performing working environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate all workshop activities to meet service standards and legal compliance

Ensure timely maintenance and inspection of plant and HGV fleet, including MOT and 6-week inspections

Monitor and act on inspection reports, ensuring defects are addressed immediately

Lead, mentor and develop workshop staff, setting clear objectives and monitoring performance

Ensure all workshop operations align with company policies relating to health & safety, quality, HR, and environmental standards

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing appropriate control measures

Support training and development initiatives for workshop staff

Maintain accurate records and liaise with Head Office to provide necessary reports

Manage employee performance issues, working with HR and senior management as required

Promote the correct use of PPE and safety equipment across all workshop activities
About You:

Proven experience managing a busy plant or vehicle maintenance workshop

Strong understanding of fleet maintenance regulations and compliance

Excellent leadership and team management skills

Confident in handling performance management and staff development

Strong knowledge of health & safety and quality systems

Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads effectively

Excellent communication and reporting skills
